We constructed it this way in order to reduce the
amount of pages you need to print.
We encourage you to print the
version with the answers just once, for your own reference.
We more strongly encourage you to use these texts online. Other than ecological reasons, practicing reading comprehension online is also much easier to grade, simplifies tracking of progress, adaptive to the level of the specific student, and increases motivation to practice with the students.

A “book walk” is a pre-reading strategy for looking at a passage prior to reading it. Students will look at the title, illustrations, headings, bold or italicized print. This can be modeled by the teacher in a Think Aloud by describing what they see and how they use it to make predictions about the main idea of the story or what the key words might mean in the passage.
Post high-frequency words, sight words, theme-based or context-driven vocabulary words on the wall. Use the list for pre-reading discussions and as a reference for the SPED students to use while reading. It could also be used to introduce more advanced vocabulary words or color-coded for different parts of speech.
Use a Semantic Web or a Word Web to determine the meaning of unknown words using context clues. A fun way to demonstrate this strategy to SPED students is to take a passage and replace a word with a nonsense word and write it in the center circle. As the teacher reads the passage, the students add what they know by drawing lines out from the circle and connecting it to the center. This provides a visual representation of how to use context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words.
Below are 10 reading comprehension worksheets and tests that are accurately measured to fit the SPED level.
